“Thomas Moore has taught us how to discover the holiness concealed in the ordinary.” —Rabbi Harold S. Kushner, author of the bestseller When Bad Things Happen to Good People
Personally, I wouldn’t write a book on Christmas unless I felt that this holy festival is worth keeping. I wouldn’t want to increase any sense of tension among the religions or among atheists and agnostics, all of whom I profoundly respect. But I don’t think a culture of secularism is the answer. Ignore Christmas and you lose something precious to your soul.
In that spirit, we have a new opportunity now to make Christmas a deeper and more universal celebration of life’s promise, thus making the season one of hope for everyone.
